I have recently purchased a Giffgaff sim which I've got cut down to fit the iphone 4.
I've already reached the end of my contract with Orange on the 27th September 2013.
I did all the necessary steps, including activating my sim card and purchasing a goodybag but it says "No Service".
I've checked Itunes and they've come up with the message:
The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
The SIM card that you currently have installed in this iPhone is from a carrier that is not supported under the activation policy that is currently assigned by the activation server. This is not a hardware issue with the iPhone. Please insert another SIM card from a supported carrier or request that this iPhone be unlocked by your carrier. Please contact Apple for more information.
I've checked online and apparently I will need to back up and restore but I don't want to upgrade to ios 7 which it is forcing me to do. I have checked online again and apparently I can back up and erase all settings. Will this allow me to start with giffgaff i.e. will this allow my iphone 4 to recognise the giffgaff sim?
