Can I update my iPod model MC086LL

Mine wont connect to my computer but the cord works perfectly how can I fix this?

That is a 3rd Gen... The 3rd Gen can only go to iOS 5.1.1

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Check for Updates “...

If an Update Appears Install it...

if not... you are up to date for your particular Device...
