    So you've tried Wifi and connecting to iTunes to activate?  What does it say when you try to activate the device?

    I also have this problem.  pad says "your ipad could not be activiated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable.  Try connectingyour ipad to iTunes to activate it or try again in a couple of minutes.  (Tried this - for the last 48 hours).  ITunes says:  does not recognize this ipad.  I cannot get past that messge to try to restore it.
