How to hide apple update

I have searched high and low on this website for a solution on how to hide a software update.

Running OS X 10.8.5 on a 2010 iMac 27

My problem is that no matter where or how I click on the Updates screen, I never see an option to "Hide" an update.

Right now I have one pending update for Xcode, which I don't want to perform or see any more.

I click on the App Store.

I then click on the Updates icon on the top of the page.

I then click on "...More" to expand the details.

I click and right click, all over the page in every conceivable place but I never see the "Hide" option.

Help greatly appreciated.

TIA,

JP

You can only hide OS X updates, not application updates. In the case of this Xcode update, you can't hide it without removing the application from the iMac
