I have just got my first Apple Macbook Pro and trying to play movies on my Smart TV from it. I am using Apple TV to connect wirelessly. I tried playing YouTube videos and it works great. But standard DVDs do not show up on the TV. I just get sound. Is there and adjustment I am missing?

Try using other software than Apple's DVD application to play your DVD's. DVD player doesn't allow mirroring.
