Safari on my MacBook pro won't seem to open at all and it continiously says "Safari Quit Unexpectedly". This is pretty frustrating and I can't seem to find a fix. If anyone could please help me to get Safari to open again that would be great.

Never install Comcast security software. It will only cause you prooblems.
You can keep your Mac safe from malware by enabling Gatekeeper.
Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy then select the General tab.
Select: Mac App Store and identified developers
If that area is greyed out, click the padlock icon to make changes. You may be prompted for your admin password before proceeding.
I've enabled Gatekeeper. Will I need to try and get rid of the Comcast security now?

Back up all data, then remove the "Genieo" spyware by following the instructions on this page.

Go â–¹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
I moved the Genio spyware to the trash a while back as I had been suspicious about it. I searched my Mac for "genieo" and nothing's showing up. Now I can't find it anywhere to do an uninstall. The uninstaller I downloaded said it was damaged and that I should eject the disk.
You got a corrupt download. Try again. If you still can't open it, just skip that step.
Did all the steps above and just opened Safari after rebooting and it hasn't crashed yet. So far so good! Thanks a million to both Linc and Carolyn for your help. I know this was pretty frustrating but it's working now. I just hope it doesn't crash again. 🙂

I hope I don't either. Although this spyware installed itself on my computer. I didn't want it nor did I tell it to download.

One more comment for the record. My guess is that you installed "ChatZum" or something similar, perhaps from the rogue "Softonics" website. Never install any third-party software that comes packaged as an installer or prompts for your administrator password without researching it carefully.

Perhaps you could help me...since downloading Safari 6.1 today via software update it will not open with OS X 10.7.5.
I have managed to open Safari in safe mode and I've removed the Extensions and disabled all plug-ins but it still crashes in normal mode. I've run EtraCheck, the 5 Terminal entries you suggested for Woody122 and have copies of both along with the crash latest report.
Can you help please because I've now reached the end of my knowledge spectrum?

I've been fighting with my Mac for a day trying everything I've found to get Safari to run again. I even re-installed the OS, nothing worked UNTIL I found THIS!

And VIOLA!! I rebooted and I've got Safari back after updating to the latest version of Maverick yesterday when it stopped working!!
