Airplay and mirroring dont work at same time? help?

i need to airplay music and mirror my ipad/ laptop to my apple tv which is hooked up to a projector. I could not get both airplay music and mirroring to work, only one at a time. Is there a way to do both? if not what are some options? the optical audio port i guess is the only other option to get speakers to hook up to that. What should i do? what are some options I have? im guessing the only way is to get wired speakers 😟. i have to mirror the screen first tht is most important. i just now cant figure out how to get audio with it. HELP!!!???
