Q: Why won't my songs transfer from itunes to my iphone?

When I plug in my phone into my computer and try to sync my playlists on iTunes to my iPhone, the sync completes but the songs will not transfer.  I even tried deleting the existing playlists from my iPhone and I couldn't even do that.  I have literally tried everything that I know.  Any suggestions?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.2

We have been having the same problem with an iPhone 5 and have figured out the problem without using icloud and sync.  Plug in phone and select itunes from computer.  In left column of itunes it will show your phone or device name.  Click on the name of your device and 3 boxes will appear with iPhone 5, Backups and Options.  In the Options box select "Manually manage music and videos".  This will allow you to manually manage music by dragging songs from library to your phone or delete music on your phone, create playlists, etc.  DON'T FORGET TO EJECT your phone properly before unplugging or you could end up with partially downloaded music.    Hope this works for all of you.

I had the same problem but I fixed it using this methode:

1/ go to ur library on itunes

2/ click on " your iphone's name " on the right side,it's up there

3/ after you click it,it has " summery , info , apps , music , movies , tv shows ,.... " click on the "music" tab

4/ down there click on " remove and sync " with this all of your songs and videos will disapear form your iphone

5 / now give a check on your new playlist and then sync

6/ your new songs are in your iphone now

I hope this will be useful to u guys

I noticed that when I purchase new songs fron iTunes and move them to a playlist, the songs never appear on the playlist on my iPhone.  I have seen advice about removing the passcode lock and then removing the music on our iPhones and then sync again with iTunes and it worked for some people.  Sadly, it didn't work for me.  After I synced the playlists back on my iPhone, the newest songs were not in the playlists.  However, if when I clicked on the "Songs" icon (Radio, Playlists, Artists, Songs, More) in the menu at the bottom of my iPhone after I tapped "Music", the newest songs were there.  Not in my playlists where it would be convenient.  I'm with you - totally frustrated!

Thank you so much, Janinefromks!  I tried a variety of other suggestions, but yours is the only one the worked for me (on iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4).  Can finally go to bed at 2:26 a.m. . . .

Ok this has been bugging me now for weeks as well.  I spent last 24 hours working on it trying all these options and nothing worked.... till this morning.  I am confused as to what is changing but there is the scenario.

Apple Macbook Pro and Iphone 5s.

If I open iTunes, left side of panel I see my iPhone 5s.  I click the summary tab and under options at the bottom I have checked only "Automatically synch when this iPhone is connected, Sync only checked songs and videos and Manually manage music and videos".    Doing this allows the songs and playlists to actually copy over. I can now watch the music as it copies over.  Before it would seem to hang saying applying settings and eventually stop with nothing copying over.

Here is the part I do not understand.  If I go to the tabs at the top "Summary Apps Tones Music" etc.  If I click on the Music tab the box "Sync Music" is not checked and the "selected playlists, artist, albums and genres button is checked but greyed out".

If I click synch music, it unchecks the boxes on the summary tab at the bottom under options.  As though they conflict.  Yet my music is copying over.  It appears the only way to get new items over to the iPhone is to now drag and drop from my play lists, music etc over to the iPhone.

This also seems to apply to books, photos, podcasts etc.

i'm on a lowly WIN7 computer and am having same type issues when trying to sync.  new songs show in my iphone 5 playlists when viewed in the computer/itunes library.  but new songs will not show in the itunes app on the phone itself..until...i simply play a few seconds of the new song on the computer.  then all seems to sync fine.

Thanks for the tip. It had been frustrating last few days when the playlists and photos were not syncing.

    You made our day.

    It worked!  Thanks ChantelMac!!!

It actually didn't work at first, but after undoing the "Show All Music" from Settings-Music, getting rid of everything, I tried again and it worked!  It worked on my iPhone 5s and my iPad...hurray!

Also for my new iPhone, I realized I hadn't logged into Home Sharing in the Settings-Music.

Yes!!!  But don't worry, it must be a Microsoft issue because Apple never has bugs.

Had the same problem. Talked to a techie person in a Mac reseller. According to him, updating IOS directly on the phone may result in some corruption of the software. The best thing to do is to update via the iTunes in the computer.

To overcome he problem, you can try this:

    1. Manually back up iPhone into the computer

    2. Then, it the Restore button. This will completely delete everything in your iphone (Do make sure you have backed up your phone!!)  and the latest version of IOS will be installed. This may take a few minutes.

    3. When this is complete, and the iphone icon pops up again, you will have two options: 1. Set up as a new iphone or 2. Restore backup.

    4. Hit the restore backup button. This will take a few minutes.

    5. As far as I can tell, all my previous data (contacts, photos, etc  were back in the phone.

    6. More importantly I can now drag and drop music from the itunes in my Mac directly into my phone

    7. YESSSS!!!

I reckon if we all ask for our money back Apple just might pay attention, although it looks to me like customers are too much of a problem for Apple to deal with, so lets make it easy and all move away from all Apple products.

I had a bunch of problems all linked to iCloud, the NSA spyware, and even after I've "removed or deleted" iCloud I still have problems so the problems either Apple's lack of interest in customers or lousy NSA software.
