AirPort Extreme and xbox 360
How do I open NAT on 2013 AirPort Extreme 7.1 for xbox 360 connection?
How do I open NAT on 2013 AirPort Extreme 7.1 for xbox 360 connection?
Unfortunately, the AirPorts are not listed as Xbox Live-compatible routers ... so there is no guarantee doing this will get Open NAT status for Xbox Live!
Basically what it comes down to is that although you can get an Internet connection for the Xbox with the AirPorts, you may not get the necessary NAT setting (Moderate or Open) for the Xbox Live! on-line game that you want to play. As such, you basically have two options: 1) Create a DMZ (Apple calls this a Default Host) for the XBox or 2) Configure the AirPort for Port mapping to open the required ports to allow Xbox Live! access ... or 3) Use a compatible router.
Option 1 - Create a DMZ
Option 2 - Configure Port Mapping
The following ports must be available for Xbox Live to operate correctly:
To setup port mapping on an AirPort base station, either connect to the AirPort's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the base station's LAN ports, and then use the AirPort Utility, to make these settings:
1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the Xbox 360.
2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.
While still on the Network tab:

Which option did you go with Tessarax? 1 or 2? Thanks
This was tremendously helpful. One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that the new 6th generation Basestation Extreme actually creates two identically named networks (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz), which apparently confuses the XBox 360 or maybe it just confused me. Typically, the device is supposed to automatically choose the best connection. But with the XBox, you will actually see two networks with the same name. I was trying to fix NAT problems before I was able to establish a connection to WiFi and therefore never got a an IP address. Finally I did a factory reset and noticed that there were actually two separate networks. This time I selected the second one and finally got the XBox to connect.
I did both options listed here and everything works fine. Thanks, Tesserax, whoever you are. 🙂
an important thing is that you need a public ip-nr from your broadband/fiber deliverer! (BD)
I Did everyhing in this post, but I still got "static" on the xbox360.
then I called my BD and asked them to change, my ip from private to public and an hour later everything worked perfect!!
so if you did everything in this post and it still doesn't work?
Check if you have a PRIVATE Ip-address!
sorry about the bad English😎
