Convert 25fps to 24fps

I am new to the video world. I have a 25fps 1920x1080 ProRes 422 clip (made from a .mts file via ClipWrap) that needs to become 24fps. I assume that Compressor is the tool for this, but Compressor's interface is so unintuitive and fragmented that I was unclear on how to do this, and Compressor Help isn't very, um, helpful. So I just whacked away at it, and here's what I tried:

  1. Open the file in Compressor
  2. Choose the settings tab and click "+" to create a new setting.
  3. In Encoder tab of the Inspector, choose ProRes 422 and frame rate 24.
  4. In Geometry tab of Inspector, choose 1920x1080 (I had to make that change, as it was initially set at 720x480)
  5. I left alone everything else in Inspector, and clicked Save.
  6. Drag that new setting onto the original file shown in the upper left-hand window (whatever that window is called)
  7. Set a destination and drag that onto the original file in the upper left-hand window.
  8. Click "submit."

Is this right? QuickTime says that I did indeed get a 1920x1080 24fps ProRes 422 file, but I'm nervous as to whether I may have messed up something subtle that will give me grief later.

Can someone please either confirm that I did okay, or else give me step-by-step instructions on the right way to make this conversion?

Thank you.

It seems to play fine, Russ. Unlike the Frame Controls window you showed me, everything in my Frame Controls window was grayed out, so I couldn't have changed anything even if I'd wanted to. At least it showed "100% of source," so that's good. Maybe it wouldn't have been grayed out if I'd selected other settings in other windows? Dunno.

I had wondered if going from 25 to 24 would mess up the sound. Seems okay, though, which rather surprises me. (And in this case it doesn't matter, since I'm going to replace the sound with voiceover anyway.)

Thanks a lot,

Gyandev

You have to click on the Gear icon at the top to activate Fame Controls if the settings are grayed out. As you said, it's not very intuitive.

Glad the conversion worked well.
