I have an Ipad with Retina... I love it... However, it gets stuck muted when it sleeps... and only turning it off and on again will get the sound back, how can I fix this?

I have an Ipad with Retina desplay, when it sleeps the audio gets muted and when it comes back on I can't un-mute it except by turning it off and on again. How can I fix this?
