Great question. There is a model number printed on the back cover of your iPad (towards the bottom, in very fine print, starts with an A). You can utilize the chart in the following article to determine your model of iPad:

The others I saw are quite the convoluted dance, requiring a switch to another app, following a set of commands that do-si-do's a person to sets of number/character strings, an intermission with writing implement and surface, before accurately transcribing them so that one can return to the post, hop-scotch on a link to another place where apparently one would get the pleasure of doing the alphanumeric cha-cha with perfect precision before taking a bow and gaining the recognition sought.
I like your way better, as I prefer to dance for fun.
