Trying to hook up Beringer USB mixer to MBP. Beringer Mixer Xenyx x1832USB as the interface to MBP, but GarageBand isn't recording any signal.

Hooking up Beringer USB mixer to MBP. Beringer Mixer Xenyx x1832USB is said to be the interface to MBP, but GarageBand isn't recording any signal. MBP is connected to Beringer Xenyxx1832 by USB, but no signal recorded on GB. On the Track Pane, the 'Input Source', 'Monitor', & Record level are all dimmed / inactive, & can't select X1832USB mixer as source.

Anybody else working with this mixing gear? any helpful hints?

Sorry- My bad. i'm still new to GB & new to this Behringer X1832 USB Mixer, so i'll try to explain myself. (also it's not my Macbook Pro, just setting it up for someone, not really sure about their GB setup)

Thank for the above links, i'll check them out.

1- So i'm plugging in the USB cable fr the MBP directly to the USB plug of the Behringer USB Mixer. Mix main output is connected to nearfield speakers (main mix sound does come out of these, so that works)

2- Playback on GB is started & signal goes into USB mixer & we can hear that on speakers.

3- Also, Microphone is hooked up into mixer channel 1, signal goes into input of mixer, & does register as good input signal.

4- Signal does go thru main mix, & is heard on speakers, but is not recorded when trying to record on GB.
