Should I use my macbook on a sleeve?

I have a macbook pro and I have the larobe sleeve (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Be-ez-LArobe-Notebook-Sleeve-MacBook/dp/B009T35Y6E/ref=s r_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1380479555&sr=8-1&keywords=larobe+sleeve+for+macbook+pro+15). The sleeve offers great protection, but is it a good idea to use my macbook on top of the sleeve? It's quite nice resting the macbook on the sleeve, but would it cause any problems like overheating? Or is it okay to rest the macbook on the sleeve on a long-term basis?

Thanks!

Nice neoprene sleeve.

I would NOT for good reason,....its not blocking the fan vents, which is fine.

but.

A: when neoprene gets hot repeatedly it degrades fast (as any scuba diver can tell you about their suits left in the sun).

B: neoprene is a nasty insulator of heat, and your macbook Retina gets a good part of heat dissipation thru the unibody, especially the bottom.

C: That neoprene is also smothering what little space there is under the macbook as raised by the feet, so there is no heat transfer UNDER the mac as the alloy body conducts heat to the surface of the alloy casing.

peace 😊

I wouldn't place my notebook on a Polyurethane sleeve: you're just asking for trouble.

You should place your MacBook Pro on a smooth, hard surface so that the fans will be able to properly ventilate and the air flow will be unobstructed. Apple's 'notebooks' are not advertised as 'laptops' and the heat generated may cause actual skin burns if placed on your lap (or any other body part!).
