iphone 5 recovery mode stuck in preparing iphone for restore

iTunes 11.1.0.126

iPhone 5 - 64GB [NOT jailbroken]

I chose to upgrade to IOS 7 - during the upgrade I got error 21. Re-starting iTunes it stated that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode.

I run the restore and now iTunes has been stuck in "preparing iphone for restore" for over two hours.

Is this a normal restore time?

How long do I have to wait until it finishes, or should I simply give up and take it into an Apple store?

Help!

I had same problem. Connected the USB cable directly to the computer instead of a USB hub and problem solved.

The iPhone probably needs charging. Turn it off by:

Holding Home and Power for 10 secs

Let go of ONLY POWER, NOT HOME!

Keep holding home for 15 secs.

Plug it into the wall, let it charge, then restore again.

You shouldn't need to boot it up again, as it will boot into recovery mode.
