Unlocked iPhone 5S

Dear Sirs,

I am interested in buying new iPhone 5S.

Could you tell me how can I buy this phone unlocked, so I can use it with any international carrier of my choice.

Regards,

Tim

Zdrasti,

iPhone 5s has not yet been released in Bulgaria, and Apple does not have an online store there. When it is released in Bulgaria on M-tel and Globul etc. it is likely to be locked. Apple have not announced a release date in BG yet.

Your only option would be to buy one from another European country where the phone has been released, direct from Apple. However, to do that you'd need to have a credit card and shipping address registered in that country. Alternatively, if you know someone in a country where Apple sells unlocked iPhones direct (such as the UK) you may be able to get them to buy one for you.

Looking at the online US store it doesn't seem as though Apple have started selling an unlocked iPhone 5s model yet.

The only one available without a contract ( at full unsubsidised price) is the T-mobile model, but it doesn't say if it is supplied unlocked. If it doesn't say it is unlocked, then I would guess that it isn't.

If you buy from the US you won't have any warranty. If you buy from another European country you will have a warranty as the EU warranty is valid in all EU countries.

Do you know anyone in another European country where the iPhone 5s is sold unlocked? That would be your best option.

Regretfully, I don't know nobody in another European countries I just visited the apple US online store, and according to what I read (If you buy iPhone for T-Mobile, it will arrive with a nano-SIM card already installed that you can activate by visiting an Apple Retail Store or a T-Mobile store or by calling T-Mobile. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier. For details on LTE support, see www.apple.com/iphone/LTE.), the T-Mobile iPhone will work with any international carrier. Is it true?

The only thing I know I won't get is the 2 year cover required by EU law.

He was misinformed. Your warranty is only valid in the US.
