What's wrong with the remote app

Before, all of my movies would show up in the "movie" category on my remote app (iPhone and iPad) and play as a playlist. Now since updating iTunes, I've noticed that while all my movies show up in iTunes and on my phone/iPad, they won't play as a list. Why? Because iTunes automatically categorized most of my movies as "home videos" a category that doesn't show up in the remote app. I had very little luck in categorizing by genre (because that option is there and plays it as a playlist) but I've only been about to do that three times, after that, no luck. So.....what now!? I'm really irritated.
