Does this happen to other computers/iPad/iPhone?

If not, then try deleting your AirPort preferences to reset it:

Navigate to the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ folder and delete:

    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist

    preferences.plist

    Restart.

This happens because the channel of your wifi router is the same as other routers in your neighborhood. follow the steps below and you will be sorted. 1. System preferences > advanced > wifi >delete your saved wifi. 2. Delete all your saved wifi passwords from keychain 3. Go to the router setup from another computer AND CHANGE THE CHANNEL. For router with 2.4 Ghz band, set the channel to 3 or 4. For router with 5Ghz band, set the channel to 36 or 42. Some routers have both the bands. Change both. 4. Connect back to your router. Thats it!

The channels are on the router, you need to locate the router's manual and it will tell you how to locate and change the Wi-Fi channels. If you happen to use an Apple router such as an Time Capsule, Airport Extreme or Airport Express then it's much easier. Open the app called Airport Utility and you can easily find and change the routers channel.

    The $99 solution:

Tried all suggestions for fixing wi-fi dropping except changing channels on my Netgear router. I couldn't figure out how and have no idea where original manual may be.  So I bought a AirPort Express for $99, set it up and now everything works.  I didn't like having to pay that, but I am happy everything works.
