Sound not right since iOS 7

I Have an iPad mini ever since I downloaded the new IOS 7 Siri, talking tom, and video sounds will not work!! Very annoying and needs to be fixed ASAP!!!

Resetting the iPad does nothing I've tried and yes, I've made sure all my sounds are up all the way.... I can play music from iTunes and the internet the iPad just won't hear me....

Try to reset the iPad:

Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)

1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.

2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.

3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

Make sure you have a current backup, then try restoring the iPad as new (you'll lose everything so make SURE you have a backup!). After restoring as new & before going through the trouble of reinstalling everything, check the sound issue. If the issue is gone after restoring as new, then it's likely some hosed setting in your backup. Sorry to say, you may then need to set up the device as new, reinstalling everything from scratch.

The point I'd like to make is that if restoring from a backup is causing the issue, then the borked setting is likely lurking in the backup. If restoring as new does NOT correct the issue, then there in fact may be an issue with the iPad itself. If that's the case, it's then quite easy to restore from your backup and have no issue getting your iPad back to it's previous setup.

If restoring as new gets rid of the issue, it would be worth it in my opinion to live with having to reinstall everything to get the iPad to function correctly.

Either way, what you do is entirely up to you. Maybe you'll get some other replies from others with the same issue and if they were able to resolve it in another way besides restoring as new...but I personally have heard of no one with this type of issue recently.

Been spending 48 hours solving all the hardware issues that iOS 7 has caused. I have hardware issues that I never had before update. Had my beef with apple customer service that resulted in Apple being very keen on charging me £200+ for fixing iPad or advising me to buy anew iPad. Customer service are fast to say I must have banged my iPad or had liquid damage after I perform update, which can be the only explanation for mic not working.

Result is that microphone is dead since update after resetting to factory setting 3 times!

I cannot accept this as a reason. I know of users with same issues!

Xmas will buy a nexus or samsung, fed up with the bad customer service, the poor software updates, 2 years for a £500 iPad is a bad return on money.

Apple take note!

Here's one example... If u look it up you'll find about 15more ppl with same issue... Not trying to be unappreciative of your help and info at all.... I'm just very frustrated about this issue and I have a lot of stuff on my iPad. I also use it for work and I use Siri a lot... Everything has worked just fine until I downloaded the update...

no your not on your own and I am also really puzzled and quite angry at apple. Since I recently upgraded to ios 7 the sound on my ipad for games and tv has gone, then it will randomly come back for a while then go again. Never had these issues before the upgrade. The vol buttons do not respond, ive also tried everything people have mentioned on here like hard reset, resetting all settings and restoring but the issue is still there, my vol up and down buttons either dont respond at all or all I get is a sound effect icon, ive fiddled with all the sound settings, it cant be the hardware because it still bleeps with new email and when you go into the settings the vol up and down works with the buttons, soon as you leave the settings menu back to square one. Then when the main sounds do come back and it is random, all it needs to go back into standby lock mode, unlock and sounds gone again? really bizzare and just like you I dont want to goto apple center just to be told its going to cost me megabucks to get it looked at when Im almost certain its not a hardware issue, and I look after my ipad. I mean why would it work in settings but no where else? very frustrated and annoyed.

Your far from alone, my sound worked fine prior to upgrade and now it's like scratchy and in the distance, have tried everything, Apple wanted me to pay £250 to send my ipad back and I would lose everything as I would get another ipad back, I use sound system a lot to watch movies etc and often use ear phones, totally fed up, will never buy from Apple again if this is not sorted £500+ you would expect better service than this.

I have exactly the SAME problem and the way I feel about the horrendous upgrade the iOS7 and the 7.0.2 I will NEVER have another Apple product. They better send out a 7.0.3 and a 7.0.4 and a 7.0.5 to FIX all their goofs! I need my sound to work again and not sound far away and raspy..( like a $2.00 radio going bad!) AND my control center lacks any translucency at all???it is so.id gray ( ugly ). I am NOT the only one with these problems...more and more are complaining. CAUTION: if you haven't updated your iOS - DONT!!!!!!!! wait a while longer for all these bugs to be worked out before you let Apple RUIN their own products! Let it be a lesson learned though!!!! BUY other OS

I REFUSE to do a complete restore as well! I called Apple restore and that's whet they told me to do! I will just NEVER buy another APPLE product because they cannot support or FIX their mistakes. If they think we will continue to buy from them after this Fiasco...they are sadly mistaken! ANDROID....Here I come! ( unless Apple comes through VERY soon)
