Q: I would like to update to time capsule. My existing extreme is connected to 4 express around the house. If I install capsule, do I have to reset all express machines or will it work automatically?

I would like to update to time capsule. My existing airport extreme is connected to 4 airport express around the house. If I install capsule, do I have to reset all express machines or will it work automatically?

    You need to start over.. the MAC addresses are different.. if you try it will fail.. even with the same names and same IP addresses because it is not the same box.. it is much better to start over.

     

    And even use a wholly different naming structure.. short.. 2-20 characters no spaces.. and pure alphanumerics.

     

    It doesn't take long really to redo it.
