Need software keyboard for Thai Pattachote
I am a Canadian and have been living in Thailand for one year. As I have learned to type in Thai on my Macbook, I find that the Thai PattaChote keyboard is easier than the Thai keyboard.
I have been unable to find a way to use the Thai Pattachote keyboard on my iPad and iPhone. This requires me to deal with two different keyboard layouts for typing in my second language. NOT the kind of elegant solution expected using Apple devices!
There is an option for a Thai PattaChote keyboard on the iOS devices, but it is a hardware keyboard option, not a software keyboard option. The keyboard on my iOS devices is unaffected by choosing Thai or Thai-PattaChote in these options.
What exactly is a hardware keyboard layout on an iOS device? I'm guessing it is a Bluetooth external keyboard? I have looked at all the computer stores nearby and can't find any Pattachote keyboard-USB or Bluetooth. If there are no hardward Thai PattaChote keyboards for sale, it doesn't make much sense to have it available as a hardware option.
COULD YOU MAKE a Thai Pattachote software keyboard option in iOS?? Sorry to shout to make this question more noticeable.
Research online tells me that the difference between the two keyboards is like the difference between QWERTY and Dvorak keyboards in English. That is, the QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow down typists to avoid jamming keys on a mechanical typewriter, but Dvorak places the most used keys on the home row and within easy reach by the index fingers.
Thai typists are like English typists-handicapped by a widely adopted keyboard that is less efficient and promotes Repetitive Stress Injuries.
