Q: Hello. I am confused about what will happen tomorrow when icloud

Hello. I am confused about what happens when complimentary icloud storage goes away. I have clicked the $40 plan. Will that automatically be charged and give me the storage that I currently have been using? Or do I have to click a payment plan and go through purchasing?

Thanks

As an ex-MobileMe subsriber you received complimentary extra storage when you migrated, due to expire on September 30 2013.

If at any time since you migrated you purchased extra storage it will have cancelled the free storage and will auto renew so you need do nothing.

    You can check the situation:

    1. Choose Apple () menu > System Preferences, then click the iCloud icon.
    2. Click the Manage button.
    3. Click Change Storage Plan.
    4. Click Downgrade Options.
    5. Enter your Apple ID password, then click Manage.

If it's the same as in the picture, you did not purchase additional storage and need to purchase your current plan now. Click your current plan to select it then click 'Done'. If you want to change the storage level, click the appropriate plan. If it's not shown, come out of it and go through steps 1-3 above and pick the plan you want.

It it's not the same, the  you purchased extra storage at some point and need take no action - you will not lose any storage. You will have been getting emails because the automated system doesn't know you purchased extra storage.
