Q: iOS 7 Parallax Wallpaper PSD Template here

I made this today, based on some informtion I found here that says that the new wallpaper format is 744x1392 pixels.

This is based on the built-in wallpaper supplied by Apple, so I have to assume it's correct.

I've made a template, including the additional surround area and also the phone overlay.

All of that should allow you to drop an image of your choice into place and re-size/adjust so it appears correctly in iOS7 on an iPhone 5/5c/5s

It's a Photoshop template. (Preview shown) and I've put it here

A summary of the dimensions is provided below:

    • iPhone 7/6s/6 | Normal: 1,344 x 750 | Parallax: 1,608 x 852
    • iPhone 5/5s | Normal: 1,136 x 640 | Parallax: 1,392 x 744

There's a tool I've created some time long ago to convert wallpapers from normal to parallax with two options:

    • default: extends the pixels taking the last pixel of the edge
    • mirror: mirrors the edges

The tool can be found here for iPhone 7, iPhone 6 and iPhone 5.

(Use blur=0 and motif=blank so that it will only parallax and not blur or do anything else)

Once you parallax a wallpaper, there are 2 ways of setting it up:

    1. The first and most well known, I think, is to go to: Settings -> General -> Accessibility --> Reduce Motion --> ON which disables the parallax effect. Then, you can set any 'normal' wallpaper as your home screen. if you still want to have the app open/close effects, you can go back and turn the Reduce Motion back to OFF (wallpaper won't be affected).
    2. Using image editing tools, you can 'parallax' the original wallpaper, i.e. add padding to convert it from 'normal' to 'parallax' and then set it as your home screen using 'still' (so that it doesn't move) Vs. 'perspective' (Apple instructions)
