can't send iMessage after update to IOS 7 on iPhone 5

Same issue.

I sent a couple of iMessages first thing this morning and it worked fine, but now they get stuck as described above. iMessage on my Mac works fine and messages sent from my Mac show up in the correct thread on my iPhone.

Problem present over wifi and cellular.

Again the same with me. iMessage has been rock since i upgraded to IOS7 last week but since yesterday been having the same issue as above. I am still on IOS 7.0. After a restart all is good but i suspect that it will be back.

It will defiantly be back. I'm on the road traveling and this is beginning to be a hassle. I've tried a hard reset and turning iMessage on and off but the problem just ends up coming back…

I am having the same issue, but only with certain phone numbers. I can't receive or send texts to two numbers I know of so far.

Same issue here, as of a couple of days ago, on my iPhone 5 running iOS 7. It continued after upgrading to 7.0.2. So far, I can't iMessage any numbers. Anyone find a solution/fix, or talk to Apple directly about it?

OK, I kept searching the web and trying different things, and this seems to have gotten my iMessage working again:

1. Turned off iMessage
2. "Reset Network Settings"
3. Restart iPhone (holding power and home simultaneously)
4. Turn iMessage back on.

Now I'm again able to send iMessages. I hope this will help some of the others here with the same issue.

Yes options 3 and 2 (in that order) will normally fix many imessage issues. It just seems to get confused.

Before I do any IOS upgrade or iTunes back-up thats just one of the things I do.. seems to help to keep things clean.

turning off iMessage and resetting Network Settings worked for me... so far. It reboots after and u need to update wifi of course, but small price to pay for such a big thing.

I've been "Sending as Text Message" for the last week too.

I found the same solution, resetting network settings. Sure we have to re-input Wi-Fi network passwords, but it's not a big deal. What is a big deal is that this solution is temporary -it works for a day or two and then the problem returns, for both me (iPhone 4, 7.0.2 Verizon) and my wife (iPhone 5, 7.0.2 AT&T). I've just reset my network settings for the 2nd time since installing iOS 7 on launch day and 7.0.2 on it's launch day.

C'mon Apple! A little help here? I really don't want to have to do this every few days.

Same problem, iPhone 4, was happening on iOS 7 and now on 7.0.2. Doesn't matter if on my home wifi or cellular, has happened both ways. After rebooting phone the message shows failed, resend it or send a new one and it works. Next day, same problem pops back up. I've seen too many say the fix is just temporary so not a fix for me.

UPDATE: Apparently my wife didn't reset her network settings this AM, but I did. I've been sending iMessages and my phone shows them as 'Delivered', however she isn't receiving them -not even as txts! When I txt someone who has an Android phone they get my messages as txts, so why didn't my wife iPhone do the same?

Apple, please, we're having to abandon iMessenger for regular txts. Please fix ASAP!

Mine dropped off again tonight. Can confirm a reboot solves it without resetting the network settings. Not a fix I want to be doing everyday. Too many of us having the same issue for it not to be bug.

Resetting network settings doesn't fix it permanently. The only reason it works is because it involves a reboot. A traditional reboot will work as well.

Either way, it'll come back after a few hours. My wife and I have had this issue for a few days now and have tried everything. The only thing that helps is a reboot, and even that is only good for a little while. It's a bug that Apple will need to address.
