How do i download a version of bbc iplayer that is compatible with mac 0S X 10.5.8?
All is get is an error message saying thay bbc ipayer does not work with my version of mac 0S X

You need to upgrade to Snow Leopard which includes a more up to date version of Safari:
The OS 10.6 Snow Leopard install DVD is available for £14 from the Apple Store:

When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard to bring it up to 10.6.8, or download the combo update from here:

Check via Software Update whether further updates are required.
BBC iplayer used to work. until a week ago so I uninstaled and now can't reinstall it. Is there an older version that is available on the web?
iPlayer is only available from the BBC, and only in the UK.

When I am in the uk I want to download programmes and then watch them abroad.
Then you will have to use a UK based ISP. iPlayer will not allow downloads to a 'foreign' computer.
