What is this message trying to tell me?

Am trying to to access a website but continually get the message:

"Warning: Unresponsive script. A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: http://www.vistaprint.co.uk/sf/_sv-27.1/_hc--1944651685/_/vp/js-lib/common_gener ated/vp_min.js:7018"

If I stop the script the message eventually appears again. If I continue I get the message:

"Warning: Unresponsive script. A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: resource://gre/modules/XPCOMUtils.jsm:327".

Stopping or continuing loops back to the first message.

This happens on my Mac Mini with a fully updated System 10.8.5. But, on my wife's elderly G4 iBook running Leopard/OS 10.5.8 there's no problem!

It would seem to be something on Vistaprint's website but they declare they do not support Java script on their website.

I guess you were referring to using Safari. Have you ever tried using other browsers on the same site or URL, such as Chrome or Firefox? This would help determine if it is a site or browser specific problem.

I do, in fact, use Firefox 23.0.1 as a default. As soon as I posted the query it occurred to me to try other browers - which I'm now about to do. Thanks, at least, for the prompt 😊

I'll report back in due course.

Well, Firefox would seem to be the culprit. I've tried 9 or 10 other browsers which all loaded the site normally without the message popping up. I have several extensions loaded in Firefox so I'll try removing them . . .

Firefox 23.0.1 extensions and plug-ins all disabled but still the Messages - but ONLY with Firefox.

I'm able to access the Vistaprint home page with FF 24 without a problem. Install FF 24 and give it another go. First try clearing Firefox's cache via its Advanced preference pane and reload the site.

any difference between Cached Web Content and browsing history and cokkies?

Yes. The cached content brings up the version of the website that was cached whereas the histore will just take you to the website, cached version or new versoin. Cookines are files placed on your Mac by the website for a number of reasons: indentify your, track your browsing on their site, etc.

I don't believe the person you talked to knows anything about their website. It is full of JavaScript.

Clearing the cache of v23 didn't help neither has moving to Firefox v24.0 and I've given up contacting Vistaprint. I'll just make a note to use something other than Firefox when accessing their website. Defeatist, but . . .

I'm rather addicted to the range of add-ons for Firefox - and, yes, I did try disabling them when accessing the Vistaprint site but to no avail.

Sorry, that was a typo. While there is a "large" number of Safari extensions, I'm sure there are more Firefox add-ons. But still, Safari and Chrome are outpacing Firefox these days.
