DVD Studio Pro Burning HVDVD_TS File Disk

Don't do this. Why? Because HD DVD lost out to BluRay in the high def DVD wars (like Betamax lost to VHS back in the day). The only devices that will play those DVDs are Toshiba HD DVD players that have been discontinued for about 4 years. And Macs with Superdrives. That's it. Regular DVD players won't play them, BluRay players won't play them.

If you want high def DVDs, you're going to have to invest in a BluRay burner, and software that will author BluRay disks, like Toast. Compressor will author BluRay, to regular DVDs no less (so I hear), but they have to be under 10 min. And then those will only work in BluRay players.

Sorry, I'm an editor, not a compression expert. I use the Best Quality presets in Compressor, or simply send a signal to my DVD recorder. There might be a better way...the way that major studios make DVDs. But that means pressing DVDs instead of burning them, and that isn't a cheap process.

Someone else here might have a better answer.

If you want a higher bitrate than DVD, Blu-ray is you only disk based option.

If you want to pursue this path, be prepared to switch to Adobe Creative Suite as Apple has abandoned disk based media delivery systems.

If you buy a blu-ray burner, you can create a simple blu-ray disk using the share function in fcp or by using compressor. You can also burn a short psuedo blu-ray disk on a dvd-r using the share function and that disk will play in a settop blu-ray player.
