Extra SATA ports on Mac Pro 1.1

Hello Guys,

Im not real fimiliar with the extra SATA ports on the logic board. I have heard mixed reviews about using them for extra hardrive plug ins.

My thought was to get an SSD, an adapter and to mount it in the optical drive bay and run a SATA connection down to the logic board under the fan asembly.

Ive heard that these ports are slow and wont accpet a boot drive. What are your thoughts on this upgrade?
