I have a MacBook Pro. At start up I have the Apple logo, then a progress bar. The bar shows progress to about 30% and then the computer stalls and turns off. Any suggestions?

At start up the apples icon appears, then a progress bar, it progresses it about 30% and then the bar disappears and the computer turns itself off.

I could understand it stalling and never getting past the 30% part of the progress bar as a possible hard disk boot block or directory issue, but the turning off part sounds like more of an electronics problem. You might try booting it off of a start up DVD, an external hd with a system on it, or the recovery volume. Else recommend taking it to an Apple store or a repair shop.
