iPod touch 5th gen battery drainage

For the past couple of weeks the battery on my iPod touch 5th gen has drained a lot! From buying it at Christmas it would last around a day (id only have to charge it once a day) and 9 months later I'm finding it dying every 3 odd hours.

I'm wondering if I can send my ipod in under the apple warranty to get it looked at?
