My tab button doesn't work.

My tab button for my Microsoft Word Notebook no longer works. The button use to place a "bullet" down every time I hit 'tab.' This no longer happens and my 'tab' button does not even space forward anymore. Help. This feature makes note taking in class very easy and helps with organizing my thoughts. Having this feature back would be very beneficial to my mental health.
