Is there a Ctrl-Alt-Del for OS X?

I have a new Macbook Pro and it seems to lock up on me every few days. I try to hold down the mouse on what app I think is failing to try to Force Quit it, but sometimes (majority) the machine locks up and I can't do anything about it. Is there some sort of keyboard command that will allow me to see what programs are not responding?

Thanks!

If you want to invoke Force Quit using the keyboard, press Option-Command-Esc to bring up that window. Here are some others:

Keyboard shortcuts available in Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X
Control-Eject

The dialog box "Are you sure you want to shut down?" appears with options to Restart, Sleep, Cancel or Shut Down.

Control-Command-Eject

Quits all applications (after giving you a chance to save changes to open documents) and restarts the computer.

Control-Option-Command-Eject

Quits all applications (after giving you a chance to save changes to open documents) and shuts the computer down.

Command-Option-Eject

Puts the computer to sleep.

Hope this helps,

Via the Finder menu bar, there is a Force Quit option.

At the Finder menu bar, go to the Apple logo and select Force Quit or keyboard command - Command OptionEscape.

This brings up a window with all running applications with an indication next to the application or applications not responding. You can select a non-responding application and then Force Quit.

Your Mac should not be locking up every few days. As a first step, check Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption for system troubleshooting procedures and when doing so, follow all steps/instructions in the order provided.
