Are PPC Macs truely dead

Yes, I have a Mac Pro. But I also have several PPC desktop Macs and laptops. They still act as fine machines, and can do things that even the newest PCs struggle with. So is there a way to keep them going? I see that there are some software vendors out there still developing.

Since they has not but a new made in the last seven years, I guess you could say that.

Where are there developer working on anything for the PowerPC?

Last time I check I was not able to find any.

When my PowerMac G5 Quad lost a CPU in 2010, I spoke to a friend at the local Apple Store and he told me that Apple had done away with all PPC part over a year ago then. To me that says dead.

Hi Mostly gone, but there are a few, (& yes, I still use my PPC Macs for important stuff).

TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

SeaMonkey seems pretty fast also, with many options...

SpeedTools Pro 3.7 works on both PPC & IntelMacs amazingly!

Not dead, not forgotten, still much loved, but not updateable! 🙂

Also, they are officially obsolete:

Vintage and obsolete Apple products:

Obsolete products are those that were discontinued more than seven years ago. Apple has discontinued all hardware service for obsolete products with no exceptions. Service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. These include ALL G4 models. On November 23, 2011 all G5 models were declared as 'vintage', and are in fact now also officially obsolete.

Good morning Klaus 1

I apologize that this is off topic here but wanted to get you this info. On seach "iMovie HD and Lion" I found solution.

I copied iMovie HD app in the G4 machine app folder and put it directly into the app folder on the Lion MacBook. I can now open the old iMovie HD projects on the Lion MacBook.

I am not sure if I should reload iMovie 9.0.9 on the new machine.

Can you put this info into the proper catagory since it is such a simple solution.

Thanks for your assistance.
