iPhone 5s: Using Touch ID

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5883

Troubleshooting Touch ID

  1. Ensure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning.
  2. Tap Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints and verify:
    1. Passcode Unlock or iTunes & App Store is enabled.
    2. One or more fingerprints have been enrolled.
  3. If one finger isn't working, tap Edit in Settings > General > Passcode & Fingerprint > Fingerprints > Edit to delete and then reenroll the finger.
  4. If that finger still isn't working, try enrolling a different finger.
  5. If you are unable to enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.

I'm having the same problem. This looks like a bug to me.

The fingerprint tool failed the first time I used it. It sent me to a page:

Failed: Sorry, the operation was not successful. Please go back and try again.

I hit the back button and it immediately sent me to the "Failed" page again.

I gave up and entered a password.

Now when I go to Settings/General/Passcode&Fingerprints/Fingerprints and touch "Add a fingerprint..." it immediately sends me to the "Failed" page.

I have not succeeded in adding a single fingerprint.

Please let us know what to do.

Hey guys, if you solved the problem, then ignore this. But if u still suffer this bug, then try this method. I tried and got it work with 2 ip5s ( one is mine and one from my friend who recieves the same problem ).

First , turn off ur iphone for 3-5 min.

Then, start it, and go to fingerprint

And the last, also the most important thing. Keep repeat lift and place ur finger on home button, and just ignore the warning that you are moving your finger so fast. Just do it fast ( I think i just place my thumb only for 1 or 2 second before lift it up, and keep repeat this ), When the print is almost completed, slow down and place the center of ur finger 3-4 times then. Hope this helps
