IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered

Ever since I upgraded to IOS7 on my iPhone 4, I cannot send email. After I write the email and send it, it disappears. It does not show up in sent mail, and the intended recipient does not receive it. This happens on gmail, yahoo and aol accounts. I can send and receive email just fine on my PC laptop. But no longer on my IOS7 iPhone. Occasionally the iPhone email is delivered hours later, but that is rare. I have "rebooted" my iPhone, with no effect. Can I fix this? Is it my iPhone or is it IOS7? Can/will Apple fix this? Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know what I can do?

I posted on this thread back on 10/9/2013 when it was still happening to me. It was very strange. For about a week this problem (outgoing emails disappearing) was happening to me regularly, but without any consistency and I couldn't figure out a pattern. For the last two weeks however the problem appears to have magically stopped for me even though I have not changed my software or my personal behaviors, that I am aware of. I KNOW THIS PROBLEM WAS REAL. I'm a professional software engineer and I don't just imagine/complain about things like this frivolously! I lost some really important emails in the process. It would be interesting to hear if anyone else that has reported having this problem has seen it magically stop for them after a few weeks too?

LirimB, that is an interesting hunch you have about it being wifi related. Have you tried rebooting your wifi router to see if that will make the problem go away? (This potentially could have been my problem too. I have rebooted my wifi router since I last had this problem, but not because of this problem.)

Exact same problem here. Noticed by accident after sending and important email for which my CC never arrived.

It happens across both my gmail and exchange accounts, and looking part through my sent items, it is definetly intermittent. I can't see a pattern related to wifi versus 3G.

Never happened to me prior to iOS7.

I can't think what a decent workaround would be, as even if you close and save as draft prior to sending, it's going to clear the draft before shooting your mail into the aether.

This is a really poisonous bug, as I can't use my phone for work email now, as every click of "send" is a roll of the dice.

Looks like searching the App Store for a third party mail client might be the best work around, now I think of it.

Blah! I pity the people who haven't notice this bug yet, :'(

Hi, same issue here. I already had this on iOS6. Now I have Gmail and an Exchange account (business mail through MobileIron) on an iPhone 5 under iOS7.

This seems to be the same issue as: http://discussions.apple.com/thread/4504972 In that thread there is also no solution to this problem.

Apple, please help. For the other people, please click on "I have this question too" in the first message. I'm afraid a lot of users have this without knowing it or they do not know the right search terms to find this thread.

Hi,

I have this highly annoying thing too. (Too) frequently. Reboot helps as well as killing the mail app. I am not sure whether it is an #ios7 thing, with the previous version it could happen that sending pictures from the photo app didn't work. Same disappearing thing.

I have a hunch what this MIGHT be trigger by. I have two mail accounts on this phone, one business account I tend to switch on and off over the weekend. I have a feeling this might confuse the mail app, could it be that anyone else those this too?

Yes, I do that too (switching my business account on and off over the weekend). I have the same issue, also with iOS6 already.

Same here also on 7.0.3 let's hope someone from Apple reads this (or how do we get it there), this issue is causing me to loose 2 to 5 emails every week, unhappy customers, friends not informed etc.

Good luck with potentially these same issues. I will as of now everytime kill the mail app after switching accounts on and off.

I had the same issue, my system is in Dutch language, with two imap accounts, not with iCloud and Gmail. I think I resolved it:

Open Settings, go to the mail-account and select Advanced

Check that none of the mailboxes is connected to 'on my iphone' (Sent was with me) but to the corresponding folder of the imap server

After I changed this last week, no more messages were lost.
