Q: IOS7 iPhone emails disappearing, are not delivered

Playing a bit more with the iPad, eventually fixed the issue by turning it OFF completely and rebooting it (press on/off button for three seconds to turn OFF, press it again to turn on and reboot).

For the first time in a week, my sent emails are in the sent folder and they have actually gone out. I thought I had the problem cause I was travelling, but after coming back home yesterday and being in my usual networks, the problem persisted, this is the only thing that has finally fixed it, although I am afraid it might only be a temporary fix, based on other users' input.

Interesting.  I deleted all of my mail accounts and re-added them and had success for about 10 days.  I went out for a day and turned off the account.  I turned it back on and since then, it has not been sending mail. I will test this theory.

Please get back to us with what the Genius Bar said.  This seems like a major issue.

I have the same problem. Turns out that if I switch the phone to airplane mode and send an email (which places it in the Drafts folder) it sends fine when turning off airplane mode again. Subsequent emails also send fine. So you don't have to reboot your phone, switching on and off airplane mode forcing it to save to drafts also does the trick.

I have a similar problem with emails that I've deleted on the iPhone being deleted from the server before I have viewed them on my Mac.  This all happened with the upgrade to ios7.  I've deleted my email account on the iphone twice and it hasn't helped.  In the Advanced settings, it says deleted messages are to be removed after one week. I've changed this to "one month"; and "never" but it makes no difference.  Why the heck is the iPhone suddenly deletiing mail from the Server?

If the messages are being deleted from the iPhone and the computer then you have set your mail account up as a IMAP account. Those accounts keep the devices in sync - an action on one will reflect on another one. (A delete on the iPhone will also delete on the computer.)

It sounds like you need to set up your mail as a POP account. That way actions on the phone will not reflect on the computer (Deleting from the iPhone will NOT delete from the computer.)

You'll need to inquire with your mail provide as to whether they support POP and what the necessary setttings may be.

No that's definitely not it. I'm using POP3 for all my mail so it can't be a side effect of IMAP sync.

Same issue with upgrade to ios7: iPhone suddenly deleting mails from server. Emails disappearing from the iPhone before having been downloaded on my PC (Outlook). I've also deleted e-mail accounts on the iPhone twice and it hasn't helped. Please get back to us.

Changing my mail account from “IMAP” to “POP” worked for me !

Yes indeed, that's what I did too but really missing IMAP synchronization.

Don't get confused. There are two separate issues here:

(1) Messages mysteriously vanishing from your mailbox after being read/deleted on your phone. This is due to IMAP sync, only affects reading and only IMAP accounts.

(2) Messages disappearing into thin air when sending them from an iOS 7 device. When hitting "send", they will simply disappear without the small blue line that shows the progress of the send operation (and, IIRC, without playing the sound associated with the send button action). This only affects sending messages and in my case happens with POP3 accounts (I don't use IMAP)

The workaround for (2) is either rebooting your phone (which s*cks) or temporarily putting your phone in airplane mode when sending messages, then disable airplane mode to have it send them all in one go.

I'm not sure if there's a workaround for (1) or if this is simply expected behaviour due to the fact how IMAP works (which keeps everything on the server, including message properties and read/delete status).

Also having this issue.  iPhone 5S, iOS 7.0.2, connecting to Exchange 2013 server.  Was working up until yesterday.  Now it receives emails, but cannot send.  Any sent emails just disapear after pressing send.  They don't appear in Sent or Outgoing folders, and receipient never receives them.

Apple, have you fixed this yet? EXTREMELY annoying, iOS7 with 4S, can receive messages, cannot send!

Yes! I tested with 7.0.4 & it seems to now be WORKING!

1. Installed update to 7.0.4

2. uninstalled my email

3. rebooted

4. Re-installed email

Now things appear to be working "normally".
