Running iOS 7 voicemails will only play through speaker option

Received a sensitive voicemail. Tried playing it back through the earpiece on the device. The OS indicated that the audio was playing but no sound was coming out of the earpiece on the device. I proceeded to select the speaker option then hit play in the audio played through the speakers. I then on selected the speaker option plug in my headphones hit play and the audio came in through my headphones. I've already tried restarting my device I am running an iPhone 5 with iOS 7 the latest version. Any solutions or recommendations?

UGH!!! Found the problem. I recently turned on the Siri feature Raise to Speak and that was creating the issue. I turned the feature off and restarted my phone and the sound was flowing. This is definitely a bug, hope the Apple support crew reviews this thread.

I am having same problem. tried reset but to no avail. Verizon has 14 day return policy tomorow is day 12 and they have no 5s to replace mine with. I wonder if i take it to apple store they can replace it, but they have no replacemenet 5's either for now.

Before giving up try one last thing. Disable PassCode lock by going to Settings --> General --> Passcode Lock and clicking Turn off.

This is not a Siri thing; it's an iOS 7 thing. I have iPhone 4 - no Siri. Same problem. Have to plug headphones in or play voicemails for all the world to hear.

I have the problem with iphone 4s ios 7.0.4 voicemail play through speaker only. after follow steps below I got it back from play on and off on speaker.

The Apple Store advised Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Hope it helps if someone has the same problem. My other iphone 4 works fine without reset the network.

I had the reverse problem with iOS 8 on an iPhone 5S: voicemail would only play through the ear piece at the top of the phone, not though the speaker on the bottom at a higher volume. The Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings solution worked for me. It is completely counter intuitive, but it works.
