Does the iPad2 use IMAP or POP mail settings? Yahoo has requested me to update email settings to SSL within 10 days, but I don't know which one to update.

The iPad mail settings would be set up according to whatever your email account is. Is Yahoo POP or IMAP? I have POP and IMAP email accounts on my devices.
Where do I look that up (to find out which one my mail is set up for)? I don't know which one Yahoo mail is using.
If they are telling you to use SSL, try this.
Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Yahoo account>Advanced>Use SSL>On.
When I go into "advanced" my only choice is S/MIME, whatever that is. SSL is not listed. (Thanks for your patience with me)
I have been trying to find more information about this for you using Google, because I'm just not at all familiar with Yahoo email. According to what I have read in a few of theses articles, it seems like the Yahoo mail account has to be set up under the "Other" category in the mail app in order to have SSL accessible.

Since I'm not sure exactly what Yahoo is telling you to do, - and if you don't get any other responses here, I suggest that you contact Yahoo again and ask them for specific directions as to what they want you to do, and If you don't understand them, post them here so that we can see what they say.
Are you setting this up through Settings, or via Safari?
I have Yahoo mail and when I set it up via Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
All you do is enter your name, email address, password and give it a Description, like Your Name Yahoo.
Click done and you never have to worry about SSL or Mime.
That is exactly what I did when I set uo the Yahoo mail account thru Setting (Apple mail) 2 years ago. Today I recieved an email from Yahoo is saying that I need to update settings to SSL, and then update IMAP or POP. They have me totally confused here.
I'm thinking this email you received is not about iPad settings, but your computer settings for your Yahoo account. If you want to be certain, here's a simple solution. Delete your Yahoo account from your iPad, then re-enter it. You still won't have to select SSL or Mime. And Yahoo Mail is IMAP, so everything will reload exactly as it was before you deleted it.
