Can't sync mp3's to ipod

I downloaded some mp3's and I was only able to put a couple of them onto my ipod touch 5g (with ios7). It doesn't work to just drag and put it in the ipod. And if I tried to sync it but it's stuck on step 5 and doesn't ever finish.
