How to restore snow leopard without disk.

Hi I have a macbook with snow leopard on it, and I recently tried to restore it with the disk until the superdrive litterally carved grooves into the disk. So I know I can purcahse replacement disks, but the disk drive doesn't work, so what do I do now? Is there any way I can do it without the disk, or will I have to drop 100 dollars into a disc drive and a new replacement disk? I would really prefer not to so any help is appreciated.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Or you could take the Macbook with you to an Apple store and ask them to install Snow Leopard for you. They just might do it. And since a clean DVD - one without grooves - might be useful you could offer to pay for the SL media.

Well I would like to know how I can avoid doing that and reinstall snow leopard for free.

There is no way to do it from home without going to a store or buying anything.

I also formated and made a bootable drive, but it has lion on it. Will I just be able to boot from this and then install lion fresh and new??

If the Mac meets the specs for Lion, yes it will boot from a bootable drive with Lion on it. So the only thing you have to establish is that your Mac can run Lion.
