Q: Can I use a single of 8MB Ram with 2X2MB on my iMac 2010.

Dear all,

I've put an 8MB RAM in order up grade my 2010 iMac which is having a pair of 2 MB.

However, it can boost up and can be used for 10 minute before restarting itself automatically. Can anyone tell me how to solve this problem and why it happened? .

Generally, it is best to add RAM in matching pairs; having said that, it could be that the module is defective or not seated correctly.

What brand is it and does it meet the exact specs needed for your model?

And, there were some Macs which would not boot under certain circumstances:

FWIW, we are talking about GB of RAM, not MB......
