Does anyone else see a bright burst of light when using Fingerprint touch i.d?

I noticed for the fist time today that every time I use the Touch I.D. to unlock my phone, there is a bright burst of white light that emits from the upper left corner of the screen as the apps appear on the screen. When I unlock my phone with the numbered key pad, there is no burst of white light. Is anyone seeing the same thing happen? I would hate to have to swap it out.

Well, it appears the issue still exists but careful choosing of the icon that goes in the top left corner is a "fix."

I have the Sirius XM app icon there now. It is mostly white with a bit of blue writing. I guess that is why it appeared the problem had gone away.

Before changing to the Sirius XM icon from a Folder in that location, my experience was similar to epistrophy above. The flash only occurred when I used the fingerprint sensor.

I have been to the Genius bar twice for this problem. Once on my 4s and now on my 5s. The first visit about the white bursts resulted in the determination that it is some letter reflectioin from an app. This happens consistently on several occassions when opening and closing them. I then purchased the new 5s, and to my surprise when I set it up from my back up from the 4s I ended up with the same problem....same white burst in the same area, with the same apps opening and closing. My second visit to the Genius bar resulted in them running a diagnostic test on the phone and they said I was misinformed on my first appointment about the issue, and that it was applications that had glitches and that it also showed the system operation applications also had the same report. They suggested I restore it to factory settings and set it up as a new phone, not restoring it to any of my backups. Then loading each individual app onto the phone. This will take quite some time as I have over 200 apps. Not fun. So far so good. No white bursts on any start up apps. I will post again if I experience any with each app download as to which ones, if any, have it.

ℹ Hi Guys,

I have been reading your posts and am happy to report a possible solution.

Short story - Move unoriginal apps (not apple friendly) to the 2nd page and/or away from area where blast of white light appears ( I think it's just the app taking a while to load when unlocking with Touch ID)

Long story -

So I had been suffering from the burst of White Light in the top left hand corner of my screen and, like you a little piece of my died when I thought that there was a fault in my new sparkly 5s Gold. I immediately made an appointment with an apple genius to get to the bottom of it all.

They swapped my brand new baby for a 2% recycled phone. Not complaining, there were not scratches ect.

Low and behold, when I got home and downloaded the back-up, the white flash continued.

I returned today to find out what the **** was going on (thinking this was a common issue with iphone 5s') and so the apple genius, once again swapped my new phone with a third phone. This timewe restored to original settings to see if it works, but found no issue unlocking with touch id using factory settings.

LOW AND BEHOLD when i got home and downloaded my back-up, the problem happened again. With the deep want of not having to return to the apple store I did some research and discovered that if certain apps (that are not apple original - from when you first got the phone) are in that area, they just take a bit longer to load when unlocking with touch ID - ergo the blast of white light!

I simply moved certain apps to the second page and the problem disappeared.

Wahhoooooooo - time for a party!

Thanks,

Title: Burst of White Light on iPhone 5S and iPhone 6

Description:

On unlocking the device with Touch ID a burst of white light is produced from the Top Left/Right corners of the screen.

It happens when more than two folders are created i.e three/four folders each having some applications and the phone is locked while on the same screen.

If no folder or maximum two folders are created then no such burst is produced when unlocking with Touch ID.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Configure Touch ID

2. Use Black/Dark wallpaper on Home & Lock Screen.

3. Create minimum four folders either on the home screen or the second having some applications in each.

4. Being on Home Screen lock the phone.

5. Unlock with Touch ID and a Burst of White Light will appear on Top Left/Right Corner.

6. Now move/drag two of the folders to the other second page.

7. Go back to Home Screen and lock the phone.

8. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.

OR

Repeat step 1 and 2 as listed above.

1. Go to the second screen (after home screen) and create three or four folders with applications in it.

2. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.

3. Unlock with Touch ID and there is a Burst of White Light.

4. Now drag or remove the folders with only two left.

5. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.

6. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.

NOTE: If iPhone is LOCKED and UNLOCKED when on the screen with no folders NO WHITE BURST is there.

Problem Since:

Burst of White Light when apps added to a folder and unlocked with Touch ID. This is noticed since the update iOS 7.0.6 [11B651]

Devices:

The burst of light on iPhone 5s is easily recognized but on iPhone 6 its for a fraction of a second. Not checked on iPhone 6+.

Just got my new I-phone 6s and was having the same flashing problem on upper right side of phone while unlocking with print ID and while closing down apps like the calculator and weather.com app. Brought phone back and they replaced it with new one but still has same issue. After tinkering with it I have found a few other ways to stop it.

1- This (at least on my phone) only happens in zoomed mode, if you use standard mode it does not happen. To check if it is zoomed go to settings/display&brightness and tap View under the Display Zoom header and change to standard mode.

2- If you want to use zoomed mode, then go to settings/general/accessibility/reduced motion, and turn it on, this will stop the flash you see. And as a bonus it will save some battery life!
