Sep 30, 2013 9:54 PM in response to khab85by mende1,Welcome to Apple Support Communities
A Late 2013 iMac comes with Thunderbolt, so you have to look for the ports the monitor has got and buy a Mini DisplayPort adapter to connect your monitor to the computer. Most monitors have got DVI, HDMI or VGA, but I recommend you to use HDMI if your monitor is supported. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4241?viewlocale=en_US
The monitor will show up image after connecting it to the computer. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5019

Jul 31, 2014 11:59 PM in response to khab85by BuddyRathmell,It depends on what type of input your monitor has. Way to go in using an extra monitor by the way.
If it is an HDMI input you need a thunderbolt to HDMI like this.
If it is an DVI then you probably just want the converter that you can get in any apple store or online.
If it is a VGA you can also get it at any apple store or online. Come to think of you can get the HDMI at the apple store as well because I purchased one there when I got my apple TV.
