ios7 calendar notifications issue

Ever since installing ios7 I keep getting my wife's calendar notifications. I've triple-checked that her gmail calender is NOT selected under Calendars, and yet I keep getting her calendar notifications. Any ideas what's going on?

I think I know what the issue is... Possibly.

I have just noticed the default alerts times option (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Scroll To The Bottom).

So, when a Gmail calendar is updated and sync'd to my iPhone the Default Alert Time is applied to that event (in my case, 1hr before). By choosing 'No Alert' it has not applied an alert time to the event. I think that it's sorted for me.

The only issue is that if I create an event, I now have to manually select an alert.

This bug was driving me nuts, but I think I figured this out with the help of the last two posts. It seems to have been iCloud interference:

  1. Somehow (likely through an iCloud calendar sync setting) Google calendar events were copied to "On This iPhone" calendars.
  2. The Default Alert Time settings were then used to set alerts for all the "new" events.
  3. The newly created alerts somehow trickled into the synced google calendar events, so even if you had the "On This iPhone" calendars unchecked, you would still get the alerts.

Here's what I did to fix it:

  1. Turn off calendar syncing in the iPhone's iCloud settings.
  2. Turn off calendar syncing in the Mac's iCloud settings.
  3. Turn off calendar syncing in the Gmail account on the iPhone that is supplying the shared calendars. When prompted, OK the deletion of the calendars from the phone.
  4. Turn on calendar syncing in the Gmail account on the iPhone that is supplying the shared calendars. When prompted, OK the deletion of the "On This iPhone" calendars from the phone. (I think this is the most crucial step, as it removes the "On This iPhone" list of calendars from the Calendar app.)
  5. Go into the list of calendars in the Calendar app and verify there is no longer an "On This iPhone" section. Now when you go to the details of someone else's event on a shared calendar, you should not see any alerts you didn't otherwise create.
  6. You can set the Default Alert Times to whatever you want. They now only apply to events that you create (or invitations you accept) from the Calendar app itself. It also makes no difference whether the owners of the shared calendars have any alerts set for their (unshared) events. You should not have seen them on your phone before or after this fix. [EDIT] The Shared Calendar Alerts setting doesn't matter either. That only has to do with shared events, not shared calendars.

Yes, sadly the issue has reappeared for me.

This is not true. Any new events that my wife has created in her own calendar since I took the steps listed above have taken on the default alert settings of my phone, and given me unwanted reminders. The defaults must all be set to None before and after deleting and resyncing all the calendears. So far it's working, if you can call it that. Google and Apple will continue not caring that their products coexist poorly, it seems rather intentional.

I have exactly same settings on iPAD3 and iPHONe5...IOS7.0.4 on both

I am synching my calendars on OUTLOOK only. I have quit on ICLOUD sync, as I cannot choose Oulook and Cloud, and the direction of the synch . I am synching my GMAIL calendars with iPhone and IPAD. The iPAD is not showing the notifications, if you cjose not to show the calendar and choose teh option "Shared calendar alerts" OFF... BUT iPHONE5 is. I guess this is a bug on iPHONE only.

I opted to have Googlemail on the IPHONE5 ,It is not good to have two calendars to see, but, what can I do-
