DiskWarrior 4.4 on OS X Mountain Lion help?

Yesterday I plugged in my old WD 750gb external hard drive, trying to back it up on to my new 1tb hard drive. About halfway through trying to transfer the files, I got a pop up saying "The Disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." even though it had been working fine. I'm currently running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3 . I've found out that DiskWarrior 4.4 will do the trick however in their support page it says "The current DiskWarrior DVD cannot start up the new MacBook Pros introduced June 11, 2012" which is what I have and I'm a bit sketchy about spending $100 on something that isn't even supported by my computer. However on their front page it does say that version 4.4 does work on Mountain Lion.. Other places I've seen it will only work up until OS X 10.7. Can someone please just tell me if it'll work on my computer? I need to get my files on my hard drive back asap.
Thanks

DiskWarrior needs to be run from a boot disk other than the one you're trying to fix. Their solution has been to supply a bootable DVD with DiskWarrior on it but that DVD will not boot your MacBook Pro, which is what their message is telling you; DW 4.4 does work on Mountain Lion, just not their DVD boot disk.

As a general rule, it's a good idea to maintain a bootable backup of your HD and you could boot from that to fix your problematic external. Is your new 1TB HD bootable? If so, just install DiskWarrior on that and use it to try and fix the external.

Another solution is to install Mountain Lion on a USB flash drive and then install DiskWarrior and other utilities. Boot from that to fix your internal and any other externals. The price of USB 3.0 flash drives is coming down and since you have USB 3.0 on your Mac, using one of them for an emergency boot and repair disk should work well for you (it has for me).

Thanks for your response.
I burned the application onto a dvd, tried to boot it through my computer but it's just sat on the startup screen for hours. I assume this is what you mean. I just stupidly thought that maybe it would somehow magically work for me.
I put the app on my new hard drive then and tried to boot it through that. This is my first Mac so I'm not all that savvy with it. I just get this error message:User uploaded file

When I follow those instructions I don't have any option to uncheck "Ignore ownership on this volume". Is there any other way I can make this hard drive bootable?
Thanks for your help.

Why do you need Diskwarrior Anyway? What is your exact situation and problem? Please explain again.

What are you trying to do?

What have you attempted to do to resolve?

IS this the problem exactly?
