Issues with Focusrite iTrack Solo & Garageband iOS

When recording a track in the Audio Recorder or Guitar Amp screens, the Focusrite records well. But when I flip over to the multitrack view to listen to the recording, the audio is horribly distorted and completely unlistenable. I have a iPad 3, Garageband Vers. 4.1.1, (if I remember correctly). When recording without the Focusrite, Garageband functions great, no issues.

Have you updated to IOS 7 recently? Then it may be related to the Audiobus bug mentioned here:

When will I be able to record onto GarageBand through Audiobus again?

In that case I'd wait a bit for a bug fix to be released, before going to all the trouble of a restore. But if the problem occured out of the blue, without installing anything new, and the app worked well before, resetting the iPad to factory settings and restoring the software might help. It is a routine trouble shooting measure.

Yes, recently updated to iOS 7. I'm not using Audiobus. A couple of additional things: I can use my Apogee Jam guitar interface, and iRig Pre microphone interface with no problems at all, they still record & GB plays back perfectly normal after upgrading to iOS7. The only issue comes when I use this new Focusrite box. I'm thinking about returning it for exchange.

Got replacement Focusrite yesterday, connected everything up and I get the same problem as posted above: Initial recordings when recording with either the Guitar Amp or Audio Recorder screens play back normally, but when I toggle over to the multitrack view and attempt to play the same track, the audio is unlistenably distorted and I also noticed the Garageband program starts acting erratically, (cursor skips/jumps through the track). This is driving me crazy...this Focusrite thing is so highly-rated...so far, their support hasn't been that much help. Personally, I think their box isn't playing nice with iOS7 so I've Googled and tried to find if anyone else has experienced this same issue. I don't want to return this thing but if the issue isn't resolved soon, I'll have to do that and go back to using the Apogee Jam and iRig Pre interfaces both of which work great but it's two different gadgets to have to deal with when the Focusrite is all-in-one.

I am also having the EXACT same problem with my Focusrite 18i6 running 586 firmware and the latest GB (v 2.0-3090.25), which required that I update to iOS 7 (I'm running v7.0.3). I'm not using Audiobus either. My workaround has been to unplug the CCK from the iPad, wait 5 seconds and reconnect. This fixes the problem, although it keeps recurring!!!

Seriously debating returning this product, but hopefully a fix appears soon??

I am also having similar issues but they happen when using both the Focusrite iTrack Solo and Sonoma Wireworks Guitarjack. I can record a clean trouble free track but when I record the next track that is when all the issues happen.

Distortion ,popping and crackling, skips, freezing....... I have tried different guitars and guitar chords with the same results. It is definitely not a clipping issue.

Being that it has happened using two different interfaces, maybe it's a GB issue ??

I have not had any issues prior to installing the recent GB upgrade.............I am using an iPad 2 (7.0.3)along with Garageband 2.0 ....

It seems a lot of people are getting this problem, I too have spoken to Focusrite tech support who say they are certain it's an Apple problem as the iTrack Solo is class compliant. I am pretty sure they are right as it was OK in IOS 6 ( how I wish I could go back for so many reasons) but I can't see any response anywhere from Apple on any of the forums etc that I have visted recently.

Is there any sign of a fix do you suppose.

And - is there anybody who isn't getting these problems?

I get the same problem.

I have ipad 3 and iOS 7. Only started happening when upgrading to iOS7 which in turn updated my Garageband.

I reckon its an iOS 7 / Garageband issue. As a temp fix, if you unplug the itrack solo from the ipad and reconnect it, you should be ok but the next time you switch between Tracks and Recording it will prob happen again, complete pain this is!

I recently deleted the garageband app and reinstalled it but then all my songs were missing after months of work! After a few days of panic, I asked on here and was told how to restore them from a previous icloud back up.

Still need this interference issue sorted though, driving me nuts!

I can confirm exactly this problem here (just started with iTrack under iOS7, so no experience under iOS6). Switching in GarageBand iOS between Recording and Track (for generating a new track or switch to another track) causes the problem - massive distortion, and GarageBand is no longer usable. So the only workaround right now is to unplug iTrack before switching, then it records just fine. But of course, this is a major nuisance, I will report to FocusRite and refer again to this thread.

I've experienced the same issue as Stefan and others using the iTrack Solo with iOS7. I was told by the vendor that the problem started with iOS7 and they have no idea where the fault lies or when it will be fixed. Unfortunately, I was forced to return the unit, and I'll be going with a different product for recording on the iPad.

That's a shame, as the unit (as well as the condenser mic and headphones included in the Studio bundle) sounded really quite good in the brief moments that the Solo actually worked.

i track solo does not work with IOS7 and new garage band.

Do you thing the same probleme will come by using scarlette 2i2?

We are a band and we need to record, but i do not see other solution to continue using the i pad as a studio.

Bad apple, thanks to you we are locked, and can not work.

Hope to see i track solo back on IOS7. Waiting...

Thanks.

Yerpe.
