Any update on this? Suggesting I purchase an external camera after I just dropped $ on a new Macbook Air is unhelpful. I work with European clients who are all big skypers and so vital for my business.

According to Apple's technical support article entitled "MacBook Air (Mid 2013): FaceTime HD Camera might not work after OS X 10.8.5 update", Apple is investigating this issue.

I don't really see how having to purchase an external camera is the solution for a week old computer. This is very disapointing.

Cheers to apple but the bug in the last update also was Apple's responsibility and the on line support should know because yesterday they recommend me to solve the problem with google and skype!
