How to I clear an old iPhone to give to someone else?

I got a new iPhone so I'm giving my old one to a friend. How to I clear all of my stuff off of it, including photos, Apple ID, and the registered information off of it? I restored it and iTunes says it is pretty much empty but how do I make sure everything is off of it? I don't want my Apple ID or anything still on it because I don't want my iCloud or Find my iPhone to work on it.

So far, I have restored it but when I plugged it back into iTunes and it said I have to type in the Apple ID used to register the phone, then asked if I wanted to set it up as a new phone or from a backup?

Turn off find my iPhone, iMessage, and facetime. Then remove your iCloud account. Then use Settings>General>Resets>Erase All content and settings.

When the erase completes, it should come up to the setup/activation screen. Once it's there, it's safe to hand it over.

I made the mistake of moving all my stuff over to the new phone first. The iPhone now asks me to log in and such (as if you were to set up a new phone), iTunes is what asked for my Apple ID, not the phone. Should I be with the other person to help them log theirs in to make sure my information isn't on there anymore? Or?
