iPhone 4s iOS7 - won't sync music or video - cancels sync and hangs.

I have updated my iPhone 4s 32gig to the newest iOS7 version, and updated iTunes on my iMac to the most recent version. I have ample extra space on the phone for the amount of music and video I want to sync. I'm plugging the phone into the computer during this sync process rather than WiFi. The sync works through the backups to the computer and the apps, but as soon as it gets to the portion where it would transfer music it immediately goes to "canceling sync" and will sit there indefinitely. I have rebooted the computer, hard booted the phone (home + Power) but nothing changes. It just hangs up and I have an iPhone that was working perfectly pre-"upgrade" that no longer does what it's supposed to.

Additional details:

I am set up for automatic syncing of playlists and a few albums rather than manually managing music.

When I upgraded the iPhone, I deleted the music and movies from the phone to make room for the iOS7 rather than removing the music through a sync process.

Any ideas or is this just a "wait until Apple figures out there is a problem" type of thing?

I am having the same problem. I've tried so many different suggested solutions, but none worked for me. I really hope someone, or Apple would figure this out and push an update to become available to fix this. It's extremely frustrating.

2 choices:

1. Restore from backup

2. Restore as new and sync content back manually.

So the restore worked? I worry about restoring the phone from scratch because of losing some of the online games I have going. Otherwise, the options of restoring from a backup before the problems started? I'm not sure how to do that. My recent backups have all been after the problem started.

I restored from scratch, it synced a couple times, then started hanging again. I've tried every trick, still hangs. I think the only real solution is going to be a iOS/iTunes update.

I did the restore and restore from backup as per ckuan's instructions and I was able to sync music just fine. I did have to redownload all the apps after restoring from backup, but iCould makes it easy since you can go Purchased within the App Store and download them via iCloud. Even if you did a backup while the problems existed, restore iOS 7 is what matters most, and that's what the restore process will do. I am not sure how it affects saved games and all that, so you might need to consider that first.

I had the same problem syncing photos. This was on ios7 and 7.2. phoned apple and they made me restore and start from backup which didnt work as putting same faulty software back on so had to do complete restore and loose all my stuff. This fixed the photo issue but not the video. i have the box ticked to sync video but nothing gets added. i am not restoring again - anyone else have any ideas?

There's a new version of iTunes that just came out that finally resolved the issues for me. I wasted HOURS and HOURS on this issue.

ive got latest itunes and still doing it. the problem is with videos that were actually taken on the iphone and are now on my pc, they will not go back on even though i have them in same format as another video that it did let me load?

I have 4S that was recently updated to ios 7.0.2 and A restart just worked for me, the moment it rebooted iTunes found it and i manually clicked Sync on iphone and everything synced just fine.

Dear Apple,

please test your future updates 100 times before you implement them on guinea pigs like us.

FYI, Apple has tested more than a 100 times and more than a hundred millions users on IOS7 do not have any problems.

This is crazy. I have the same problems so obviously they did not do the testing they should have done before the release. I do not have time to manually restore EVERYTHING. Since the update, my phone will not backup completely either so I do not want to chance anything and try to restore it either. PLEASE send a fix, Apple.

I tried everything but reset everything (too scared becuase if it is not sync music maybe won't sync other things).

what i did was restart my phone (holding power button and swiping to power off) and i was able to sync my data. no need to restore; i don't know why nobody thought about turning it off first. give this a thumbs up if this works so others know what to do!
