Ios7 problems, safari crashes

This new iOS 7 has ruined the whole ipad experience for me. I use this as a browser, email tool and music library. The browser randomly crashes on a very frequent bases, some times a page opens and other times the same page crashes safari and I have to relaunch. The browser seems sluggish I feel like I just took a giant step backwards. Email is clunky and slow to respond, requires multiple touches to change folders. Music sound terrible, has hangs in sound and generally sounds glitchy. Not at all enjoyable.

I wish I had just kept dismissing the pop up asking me to update.

If you asked me a week ago about the ipad I would have told you it was great. If it was lost or stolen I would run out that day and buy a replacement. Ask me now and I would say good riddance.

Apple really blew it on this one, they took an excellent product and turned it into a frustrating pile of hardware. If ios7 was not intended for the ipad 2 why are their servers pushing it out to devices that they should not.

I have searched and found that I am not alone in these problems but have not seen any solutions.

The culprit is Javascript. Turn it off and your sites will load. Just not properly. But not properly is how IOS does everything anyway, so not to worry.

I seriously doubt Apple has the programming resources to fix this. Seven generations on and IOS still can't won't let you download say, an MP3, save it to a common folder and open it whichever App you prefer. You know, like every other OS you've ever used. There's probably a good reason for this, but it's not one that benefits the consumer.

Heck, it can't even afford to pay its programmers to add a Photos section to iTunes and the less said about managing data on third party Apps through a music player the better.

But, in good news, apparently Apple is working on new icons. That's something to look forward to.

@Fan Boyd: Could not agree more. Apple's iOS efforts the last few years has been baffeling slow. iOS still have so many obvious missing features, unresolved design problems and falling quality, that it's even more insulting that they are waasting time and resources with UI design changes and gimmicky features like parallax effects.

Why are we even forced to use Safari as the default browser? Sure, we can install other (and better) ones, but apps will not open sites and content with it. MS were forced to allow users to use browser alternatives in Windows 10-15 years ago, but not Apple and iOS... waaaay to hard to implement in 2014!!

Thought I would try the ipad again to see if things had improved....Not! I just tried at least 10 times to look at motorcycles in Craig's list. Without fail safari crashed every time. The iPad experience continues to get worse. How can Apple just stand by and let this happen? Did MicroSoft take over their development and sabotage it? Really this whole experience is going down the toilet.

I use multiple devices for web browsing. I imeadiatly tried Craig's list with them, guess what they all work fine. iOS 7 strikes again.

I have an ipad retina and safari has been crashing constantly since i "upgraded" to ios7. It would throw me out back to the homescreen. I read this thread and tried some of the suggestions (eg with i-cloud); none of them made any difference. However, I just downloaded puffin and chrome from the app store and puffin (but not chrome) seems to work fine.

Chrome is crashing a lot now too. How secure is Puffin? I'm going to try it.

Anyone else got constant freezing of the camera (rear) on iPad Air? Apple swapped out my first Air because of it and the constant Safari crashing, but this one is no better. Works sporadically. When it freezes AF lock appears on the top of the screen but can't be deactivated, shutter won't respond, HDR mode on/off likewise. Useless gadget basically; just looks nice.

I was off to buy a Samsung, only to read that a number of their young employees are dying of a rare strain of leukemia after working long hours on manufacturing their components.

I was (partly) wrong about the culprit being Javascript.

Yes, turning off Javascript will (probably) prevent/reduce crashes, but it appears to be more of a memory issue.

This isn't about Safari, because it also crashes Chrome.

It isn't about IOS alone because it affects the iPad Mini Retina, not the iPad Mini.

In other words, it's a hardware limitation.

My guess is Apple hasn't put enough RAM in the latest devices. Either that or it's faulty by design.

I suspect what we have here is a lemon. And if that's the case (see iPhone 4 antenna issue), Apple will stall or silently ride it out until the next model.

Sorry to break the bad news.

LOL hardware limitation SUPERLOL.

It's a memory leak. It affects several browsers apparently because all use the same webkit engine (Apple's rules forbid anything else). Chrome at least does

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11259152/chrome-ios-is-it-just-a-uiwebview

A bug in the browser engine causes memory consumption to grow way more than it should, and strict memory policies of the OS (apparently stricter than in older versions) force the app to close because of that.

My ipad 3 and both my iphone 5 and hubby's 4s are crashing on multiple apps. Safari is the most aggravating but the newest update apparently screwed up the safari settings and now it doesn't save any setting or passwords so I have to start all the way over if it crashes. Instagram, Facebook, Craigslist, etc.... Has anything been resolved as to a fix?
